Barry W R Rowland
Barry Rowland was educated at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook and entered the Royal Navy as an engineering apprentice in 1959. After qualifying as a Ships Diver and completing three tours at sea he was commissioned as a Weapons Electrical Engineering Officer.Married to Sandra their two daughters both attended Llanvair Kilgeddin Primary School.
Barry then left the Royal Navy in 1979 and joined Ferranti Computer Systems Ltd. and shortly was promoted to serve overseas and became Regional Director - Near East. The family took up residence in Ankara Turkey. Two years later he returned to the UK as Sales and Marketing Director of Ferranti Defence Systems Ltd and assisted in the selling of the Company to GEC Marconi. He then became Sales and Marketing Director of the GEC-Marconi Command System Division, before being asked to return overseas again this time to Indonesia. Barry and the family lived in Jakarta for the next ten years during which time GEC Marconi was sold to BAE Systems. Barry merged the two company operations in country into BAE SYSTEMS (Indonesia) and remained to run it. The family returned to Wales in 2003 and Barry took early retirement.
Barry’s interests include Golf, theatre, genealogy and ISCA Probus businessman’s Club. He joined the Governing Body of Llanfair Kilgeddin Primary School in 2003 and has been the Chairman since 2004. In addition to the many and varied responsibilities attached to that of Chairman, Barry has special responsibility for Science and English.
Tim Clement
Rev'd Canon Tim Clement - Rector of the Bettws Newydd Group of Parishes, which includes Llanvair Kilgeddin, and Governor with special responsibility for Child Protection and RE. Tim, as he prefers to be called, has been vice-chair of Governors for the past 11 years. He plays an active role in the overall management of the school and conducts collective worship in the school every Thursday morning. Tim holds school communion, harvest or carol services in one of the group churches. Tim is the school chaplain and is very happy to be approached by any of the children, staff or parents with personal issues - which of course, would be kept confidential.
'As a Voluntary Aided Church school the Christian faith and its teachings are central to all that takes place in Llanvair. The local parishes and diocese highly value the school community as an integral part of the Anglican Christian fellowship in the area'
Sue Evans
In addition to being the Class 1 teacher Mrs. Evans has special responsibility for the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 1, assessment, recording, reporting and Special Educational Needs.
