Llanfair is a Voluntary Aided Church in Wales Primary school so we are obliged to follow the Church in Wales 'Religious Education' syllabus as are all Voluntary Aided schools.  As we have mixed age classes we follow a scheme of work written especially for small schools.  This scheme of work is a rolling program over 4 years which includes 70% Christianity, 30% The Other Major World Religions, Relationships, Festivals, Celebrations, The Natural World, Authority and Community.

The pupils of Llanfair School are very fortunate to have four very beautiful and ancient churches to use within the parish.  Our parish priest Rector Tim Clement makes us welcome at the four churches for school Eucharists, Carol Services, Harvest Festivals and many other events.

St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Gobion

St Michael's and All Angels Church at Gobion is probably our nearest.  In periods of heavy rain the river bursts its banks and floods the church.  There are medieval gravestones used as flagstones in the chancel.

All Saints Church, Kemeys

All Saints Church at Kemeys is the smallest church but one of the prettiest.  There is a board inside naming the priests in charge from medieval times.

Bettws Newydd Church, Bettws Newydd

Bettws Newydd Church is especially beautiful with an ancient rood screen and the remains of a minstrel gallery.  It also has a yew tree that is between 3000 and 5000 years old.

St David’s Church, Trostry

Finally, there is St David's Church standing alone on a hill surrounded by magnificent farmland.  However it did not always stand alone, as it was once in the middle of a plague village.
